Mike represents businesses and individuals in general corporate and business matters, commercial real estate transactions, development and construction projects and commercial disputes.

He has advised clients in connection with numerous public and private development projects, merger and acquisition transactions, and the acquisition, disposition, financing and management of commercial real estate assets. Mike serves as outside general counsel to a number of companies in the retail, restaurant, aviation, real estate, construction and transportation industries, and represents financial institutions and private lenders in commercial and residential secured lending transactions, workouts and restructurings. In addition to practicing before numerous regulatory and licensing authorities, he represents clients in actions in New York state and federal courts.

Mike is a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Green Associate and is licensed as a real estate broker in New York. Before forming Cermele & Wood LLP, he practiced at several local and national law firms. Mike received a bachelor’s of civil and environmental engineering from Villanova University in 2002, and graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 2006.

Representative Matters:
  • Serves as outside general counsel to a group of closely-held companies in the hospitality, solid waste and aviation industries. In this role, Mike has managed regulatory and licensing issues, partnership matters and a corporate restructuring process and advised on a strategic expansion and redevelopment of manufacturing facilities at John F. Kennedy International Airport and Dulles Airport.
  • Counsel to a developer in the re-development and subsequent sale of a Williamsburg industrial building into a multi-family rental property. In addition to construction matters, the project involved the creation of a commercial condominium structure, obtaining various tax abatements and leasing of ground floor retail space.
  • Representation of a national design-build firm in the acquisition of a specialty architectural firm, including numerous state-specific regulatory and licensing matters.
  • Representation of landlord in lease-up of 500,000 square foot Class A office campus in Bronx, New York.
  • Counsel to the ownership of a regional construction supplier in connection with the $10 million sale of the business and leasing of related commercial properties.
  • Represented international developer in connection with Attorney General investigation and Martin Act litigation, and simultaneous construction defect litigation with condominium board.
